Endoscopic Brow Lift Surgery
The impact of our eyebrows on facial expression is far greater than we might think. Droopy eyebrows can give a person a constantly tired, sad, or aged appearance. However, when the brows are in their ideal position, the facial expression looks more dynamic, vibrant, and youthful. One of the most effective methods to achieve this balance is endoscopic brow lift surgery.
What is the Ideal Position of the Eyebrows?
The ideal position of the eyebrows varies by gender. The upper border of the eye socket is called the superior orbital rim.
* In men, the ideal brow position is level with this bone.
* In women, the ideal position is about 1 cm above the superior orbital rim.
In some individuals, the brows may be genetically low-set. For most of us, however, the brows gradually descend over time with age. This situation adversely affects the overall facial expression.
How is an Endoscopic Brow Lift Performed?
Endoscopic brow lift surgery is a modern, tissue-sparing method to elevate the eyebrows naturally and effectively. In this procedure:
* Three small incisions are made within the hairline, where they will be concealed: one is 1 cm long, and the other two are 2 cm long.
* A camera (endoscope) is inserted through the 1 cm incision.
* Through the 2 cm incisions, the forehead skin is carefully lifted from the bone.
* The supratrochlear and supraorbital nerves are protected with the aid of the camera.
* The soft tissues under the eyebrows are released from the bone, lifted, and then securely reattached to the bone.
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and takes about 1.5 hours. A one-night hospital stay is usually sufficient. A vacuum drain is placed to prevent fluid accumulation and is removed the next day.
Recovery Process
During the post-operative period, a special compression bandage is applied to the forehead to prevent swelling from moving down to the eye area. This method is also used for hair transplant patients.
* After 3 days, patients can return to their normal lives without this bandage.
What is the Difference from Other Brow Lift Methods?
An endoscopic brow lift is a more permanent and comprehensive solution compared to other superficial methods.
* This method yields very successful results, especially if not only the outer part of the brow but also the middle part is low.
* While some other techniques only lift the outer part of the brow, the endoscopic method can lift the entire brow.
Permanent and Natural Results
When performed with proper patient selection, endoscopic brow lift surgery offers results that are both long-lasting and natural-looking.
The surgery positively changes not only the brow position but also the overall facial expression. It is an ideal solution, especially for patients who feel a heaviness in their forehead, have a tired expression, and whose middle brow area is also low.
