Breast Lift Surgery
Over time, due to the effects of gravity, pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight fluctuations, and aging, breasts can begin to sag. A breast lift (mastopexy) is an effective and safe surgical procedure performed to reshape and lift sagging breasts.
This surgery is fundamentally based on this principle:
The integrity of the tissue that supplies blood to the nipple is preserved. This tissue is called a "pedicle," and during the surgery, the nipple remains viable thanks to this pedicle.
In these surgeries, I prefer the central pedicle technique. This means the tissue that nourishes the nipple extends from the central part of the chest wall to the nipple and contains a secure and strong network of blood vessels.
Advantages of the Central Pedicle Technique:
* Nipple circulation is very securely preserved.
* Nipple sensation is largely maintained.
* The ability to breastfeed is generally preserved.
* The breast is easily shaped, and aesthetically pleasing results are achieved.
During the surgery, the excess skin that causes the breast to sag is removed. The breast tissue is lifted to create a younger, more lifted, and fuller appearance. However, I want to specifically mention this: This is a surgery that inevitably leaves scars. Since excess skin must be removed, scarring is unavoidable. However, these scars are planned to be hidden within the bikini line and, after a carefully performed surgery, they fade to a skin-toned, faint line within a year.
Removing insufficient skin out of concern for minimal scarring can lead to the breasts sagging again in a short period and the need for a second surgery. Therefore, even though there will be scars, the most accurate surgical planning and meticulously applied technique ensure that the breasts remain lifted for a long time.
Is it a Painful Surgery?
Surprising but true:
A breast lift surgery is generally painless.
Our patient stays in the hospital for one night, is called for a check-up after 4-5 days, and can then comfortably resume their daily life.
Permanence
If our patient maintains their weight and avoids sudden weight loss after the surgery, the youthful and lifted appearance of the breasts will be preserved for many years.
Is it Mandatory to Use a Silicone Implant in Breast Lift Surgery?
One of the most frequently asked questions about breast lift surgery is, "Is it necessary to use a silicone implant?"
The answer is: No, we don't always have to use an implant.
In some women, especially after breastfeeding, there is both a loss of volume and sagging in the breasts. In such cases, simply lifting the breast may not be enough. Because the internal breast tissue has decreased, silicone implant support may be needed to reshape the breast.
However, in other cases—that is, if there is no volume loss and the breast tissue is sufficient—it is possible to perform very successful breast lift surgeries without using any implants. In such patients, with the central pedicle breast lift technique I apply, the breast is shaped, lifted, and firmed using its own natural tissue.
In Summary:
* If there is volume loss: An implant may be necessary.
* If the volume is sufficient: A lift alone is enough; an implant is not required.
The right decision is made after a detailed evaluation of the patient's breast. Our goal is to achieve a result that is both natural, aesthetic, and long-lasting.
