Mini Facelift: An Effective Solution for Mild Sagging

How is a Mini Facelift Performed?
The incision used in a mini facelift is much shorter and smaller compared to a standard facelift. Generally, we start the incision near the upper border of the ear, extend it down along the natural crease in front of the ear, under the earlobe, and then towards the back of the ear. The incision stops before it crosses the posterior hairline.
Using this incision, we access the lower cheek area and the jawline. By going under the SMAS (Superficial Musculo-Aponeurotic System), which is the supporting connective tissue of the face, we lift the sagging jawline upwards. This procedure also provides some tightening in the mid-face and neck, but the primary lift effect is in the lower face.
After removing the excess skin, we use external sutures called a Surgical Net, which resembles a spider web, to ensure the skin sits smoothly on its foundation. This net facilitates proper placement under the skin. Due to the limited incision, most patients may notice some skin folds behind the ear from the repositioned excess skin. However, these folds typically resolve on their own within two months.
Recovery Process
A mini facelift surgery usually does not require a hospital stay. However, in some cases, patients may need to stay overnight. The mini facelift procedure generally causes very little swelling and pain. Three days after the surgery, the Surgical Net sutures are removed, and after 5-7 days, the sutures in front of the ear are removed. The recovery process is quite rapid, and patients can travel by plane from the 7th day onwards.
Results
A mini facelift provides long-lasting effects. After the surgery, a significant rejuvenation of the face is observed, with a noticeable improvement in the lower cheek and jawline. The results obtained from the procedure are durable and create a natural tightening sensation in the face.
