Fat Injection
to the Face

What is Fat Injection to the Face?
Fat injection to the face is a procedure where fat tissue harvested from specific areas of the body is purified through special processes and then injected into the facial region. This application is chosen for both volumizing and skin rejuvenation purposes. Since the fat tissue used in the procedure is entirely from the patient's own body, it is a natural and safe method.
How is it Performed?
If the procedure is solely for the face, it can often be performed under local anesthesia. A small amount of fat is typically harvested from the abdomen, waist, or inner thighs using thin cannulas. This is not liposuction; meaning, the amount taken does not cause a noticeable change in body shape.
The harvested fat is purified of excess fluids through special processes. The remaining viable, healthy fat cells are then injected into the areas of the face intended for volumization – for example, the cheekbones, nasolabial folds, jawline, or under the eyes.
What are the Differences Compared to Fillers?
Fat injection and hyaluronic acid-based filler applications can provide similar aesthetic results, but they differ from each other:
• Fat tissue is a material from your own body; it carries no risk of allergic reaction.
• It improves skin quality. Thanks to the stem cells and growth factors it contains, it provides not only volume but also a radiant and youthful effect on the skin.
• It is long-lasting. Although it may seem like about 75-80% of the volume diminishes in the first three months, a portion of this is swelling. The remaining volume maintains its permanence for a long time.
• It is a repeatable procedure. If the desired increase in volume is not sufficient, it is possible to achieve the desired result with a second session.
How Long Does It Last?
After a fat injection to the face, a portion of the volume temporarily appears larger due to procedure-related swelling. This swelling subsides in the first few weeks, and the volume that will become permanent is established by the end of three months. The permanent portion becomes a part of your face.
Outside of the face, especially in fat injections to areas like the buttocks, it is known that fat cells have a higher survival rate, providing a more permanent increase in volume.
